Friday: Gorilla vs Bear presents Nite Jewel, Geneva Jacuzzi, Harriet Brown at the Sidewinder. Dallas-based music blog Gorilla vs. Bear has a solid track record for identifying what’s next in music, and their summer parties are always a fine opportunity to check out soon-to-be hot new artists. The lush and loungey throwback jams of R&B pop singer Ramona Gonzalez, aka Nite Jewel, lead an electro-centric bill that also includes the experimental art pop of Geneva Jacuzzi and the weirdo, post-Prince synth funk grooves of Harriet Brown. $15. 8 p.m. 715 Red River St. — D.S.S.

Friday: Red Fez Pop Up at the W. For a good stretch of the early aughts, Matt Luckie’s loosely Arabian nights-themed hookah/cocktail bar, the Red Fez, was the place to be for Austin hip-hop fans. On Sunday nights, DJ Kurupt, aka Sid Sharda, helmed one of the hottest dance parties in town. Each week, a diverse and well-dressed crowd showed up to see and be seen and bump and grind the night away. For one night only, you can relive the magic and madness as the W Austin’s Rewind presents a pop-up tribute. DJ Kurupt will return to the decks alongside DJ Manny, and the evening will also feature a set from world music outfit Atash. The event is free, but fancy (and pricey) bottle service is available. 5 p.m. — D.S.S.
