Friday: Tom Petty birthday tributes at Hole in the Wall and One-2-One Bar. Tom Petty cover bands had popped up all over the country long before his death earlier this month, including at least two in Austin. Both will be in action on Friday, which would’ve been the iconic rocker’s 67th birthday. The Damn Torpedoes, with special guest Patricia Vonne, are at One-2-One Bar as part of a fundraiser for research into the nerve disease Charcot-Marie-Tooth. Across town, Hole in the Wall features Petty Thieves, with guest appearances from Larry Seaman, Michael Hall, Marla Camp, Kevin McCarthy and Andy Smith. One-2-One: $10, 8 p.m. (Departure ATX opens), 1509 S. Lamar Blvd., one2onebar.com. Hole in the Wall: free, 9 p.m., 2538 Guadalupe St., holeinthewallaustin.com. — P.B.

Friday: Del McCoury Band at Paramount Theatre. Tough break for those who longed to hear Del’s soaring bluegrass tenor at Old Settler’s Fest earlier this year, as the family patriarch was stricken with an ailment that made his voice nearly dysfunctional. He grinned through it, though, and turned over most of the vocal work to the more-than-capable band featuring his kids Rob and Ronnie McCoury. If Del’s in full voice this time around, it’ll be special. A nice bonus: Local Americana rising star Carson McHone will open the show. $25-$42. 8 p.m. 713 Congress Ave. austintheatre.org. — P.B.

Saturday-Sunday: Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder at Circuit of the Americas. If you’re a fan of glitzy pop spectacles, but not fast cars, here’s the bad news: There are no single-day general admission tickets to Justin Timberlake’s Saturday concert as part of the Formula 1 race. If you want to see superstar pop crooner JT in a rare Austin appearance, the cheapest single-day bleacher seat costs as much as a three-day pass and you aren’t likely to get a good stage view from there. The good news? That three-day pass also includes the Sunday night closing performance from R&B legend and all-around national treasure Stevie Wonder. Three-day general-admission pass $175, Sunday general-admission pass $109. Times and other details at circuitoftheamericas.com. 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd. — D.S.S.

Saturday: Chris Porter album release at Stay Gold. It’s been a year since Austin singer-songwriter Porter was killed along with bandmate Mitchell Vandenburg in a highway crash while on tour. His friends and fellow musicians worked to finish a posthumous album of his last recordings, “Don’t Go Baby It’s Gonna Get Weird Without You.” They’ll gather to celebrate its release at this party, which will feature appearances by the Mastersons, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Bonnie Whitmore, Carson McHone, Garner Sloan, Ben Ballinger, Graham Weber, Hank Erwin, Drew Carman and Haydon Hoodoo. $10. 7 p.m. 1910 E. Cesar Chavez St. staygoldaustin.com. — P.B.

Sunday: Elvis Costello at Paramount Theatre. The indie music lifer, known for sharp songcraft loaded with melodic flourishes and witticisms, plays a benefit show to raise startup money for the new Musician Treatment Foundation. Orthopedic surgeon and UT grad Alton Barron is launching the nonprofit to provide restorative care to uninsured and underinsured musicians dealing with injuries related to the repetitive stress of performing. Costello, who will perform solo, says the evening will feature a mix of his classic hits and newer material. $75-$300. 7:30 p.m. 713 Congress Ave. austintheatre.org. — D.S.S.
