Monday: “Hi, How Are You?” Day at the Mohawk. Songwriter Daniel Johnston’s trademark catch-phrase — the title of his best-known 1980s cassette release, celebrated with a mural near the University of Texas campus — provides the name for this “celebration of music, art and mental wellness” presented in conjunction with the SIMS Foundation and the City of Austin’s Music & Entertainment Division. It’s partly a tribute to Johnston: Acts including Kathy McCarty (whose 1995 album “Dead Dog’s Eyeball” remains the gold standard for Johnston covers), Moving Panoramas, Jane Ellen Bryant, Will Courtney, Cowboy Diplomacy and Leslie Sisson with Josh T. Pearson and Jonathan Terrell will play Johnston’s as well as some of their own. A late addition: Johnston himself apparently will play a few songs as well. There’s also a showcase of Johnston’s art along with works by David Thornberry, Jason Archer, Miguel Rangel and Matthew Rodriguez. $10-$15 ($50 VIP). 7 p.m. doors. 912 Red River St. mohawkaustin.com. — P.B.

Wednesday: Sphynx at Cheer Up Charlie’s. Last summer, our favorite fabulously mustachioed glam pop fanatics, Sphynx, dropped “Golden Garden,” a glittery platter of sing-along synth jams that won them a slew of new fans across the country. They strut their stuff at Cheer Ups before heading out west for a few dates. It might be chilly outside but break out the flash tats and the hot pants anyway. Their summery vibe will warm your heart. With Chief Perch, Chakra Khan. $3. 9 p.m. 900 Red River St. cheerupcharlies.com. — D.S.S.
