RAS Day at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard. The core mission of husband-wife duo Riders Against the Storm is bigger than hip-hop. They are building a movement. A year after the City of Austin named Aug. 29, 2013, “RAS Day,” they launched this annual celebration that combines musical performances with yoga, meditation, dance workshops, children’s activities and samples of healthy food and drinks. Lovett has long been one of Austin’s favorite live acts, from his days getting started as a solo singer-songwriter at Cactus Cafe in the 1980s through his rise to international stardom with the Large Band.
