Friday-Saturday: Brownout EP release at Antone’s. After a three-year stint scorching stages around the world with their furiously funky recreations of classic metal tunes, the nine-piece crew is ready to shed alter ego Brown Sabbath and get back to the booty-moving breakbeats that birthed the band. Their new EP, “Over the Covers,” packs the same horn and percussion heavy grooves we’ve come to expect, but for this go round they’ve kept on Alex “Ozzy” Marrero as a lead vocalist. His unflinching lyricism weaves deeper meaning into the expansive jams of one of the tightest instrumental ensembles on the planet. $17-$20. 10 p.m. 305 E. Fifth St. antonesnightclub.com — D.S.S.

Saturday: Bash & Pop, Fleshlights, Midgetmen at Barracuda. When Tommy Stinson came through town with the briefly reunited Replacements at the 2014 Austin City Limits Music Festival, it was a cause of celebration for the Minneapolis rockers’ legions of devoted fans. Stinson’s post-Replacements band Bash & Pop never approached that level of legend, but it did mark his first foray into fronting a band, and 1993’s “Friday Night Is Killing Me” was a fine record. A reconstituted Bash & Pop released a new disc, “Annything Could Happen,” earlier this year. Local punkers Fleshlights and Midgetmen open. $15. 8 p.m. doors. 611 E. Seventh St. barracudaaustin.com. — P.B.
Saturday-Sunday: Lone Star Jam at Travis County Expo Center. This two-day Texas/red-dirt country throwdown has undergone some changes in recent years, both in schedule and venue. Once held in early May, it now precedes Memorial Day — a good call, given that Austin doesn’t have any other big music events on the holiday weekend. Last year’s move from the LBJ Library Lawn to a field in Southeast Austin was perhaps a challenge because of the lesser-known location, but this year’s site, on the grounds of the Expo Center, seems promising. Saturday’s performers include Pat Green, Aaron Watson and Cory Morrow, with the Josh Abbott Band, Wade Bowen and Charlie Robison among Sunday’s acts. Check out the full lineup at lonestarjam.com. $40 single-day, $70 both days ($300 VIP). Gates open at noon (both days). 7311 Decker Lane. — P.B.
