Tish Hinojosa celebrates the release of he new album “West” on Friday at One World Theatre. TAMIR KALIFA/ AMERICAN-STATESMAN
Friday. Tish Hinojosa at One World Theatre. A fixture in Austin’s folk and Latin music scenes during the 1980s and 1990s, Hinojosa recently moved back to Austin after many years overseas. She’ll celebrate a new album, “West,” her first since 2013’s “After the Fair.” James McMurtry, with whom she shared bills often back in those early days, is her special guest on the bill. $20-$78. 8 p.m. 7701 Bee Caves Road. oneworldtheatre.org. — P.B.

Friday: Angelo Moore and the Brand New Step at the Mohawk inside. Decades after Moore began forging funky horn lines and soulful screams into ska-thrash gold with Fishbone, he remains one of the most dynamic frontmen in the business. He crackles with kinetic energy. His new group, the Brand New Step, featuring backing members of Ween, the Coup and the Thievery Corporation touring band, mashes R&B, hip-hop and soul into an enticing funky mix that makes dancing mandatory. 9 p.m. doors. 912 Red River St. mohawkaustin.com — D.S.S.

Saturday: Ray LaMontagne, Neko Case at Austin360 Amphitheater. This is an auspicious double bill, featuring two top-selling indie artists known for their distinctive talents as vocalists. Both have new records, too. LaMontagne’s self-produced “Part of the Light,” his seventh album, follows 2016’s “Ouroboros” project with My Morning Jacket’s Jim James. Case’s “Hell-On,” out June 1, is her first solo record in five years, though 2016’s collaboration with K.D. Lang and Laura Veirs was a fascinating detour. $29.50-$89.50. 7:30 p.m. 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd. austin360amphitheater.com. — P.B.

Saturday: ROT Rally with ZZ Top at Travis County Expo Center. It’s not quite as far east as La Grange, but the exposition grounds out by Lake Walter E. Long will be rockin’ with Billy Gibbons and company as the Republic of Texas Biker Rally hits its peak on Saturday night. El Paso’s Dirty River Boys open; there’s also a well-known headliner on Friday as Shooter Jennings (yup, Waylon’s son) performs with opener Richie Kotzen. $30-$99. 9 p.m. Friday, 8:30 p.m. Saturday. 7311 Decker Lane. rotrally.com. — P.B.

Sunday: Jake Shimabukuro at One World Theatre. A big reason for the resurgence of ukuleles since the turn of the century is this guy, a Hawaiian wunderkind who takes the instrument far beyond the presumed limitations of four strings. You may have seen his viral YouTube videos of Beatles tunes and other classics, but he’s also well-known for his own music, with more than a dozen albums to his credit. $25-$98. 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. 7701 Bee Caves Road. oneworldtheatre.org. — P.B.
