All the Friends Ball at Spider House. About the only thing more voluminous than the membership of local indie-classical outfit Mother Falcon is the number of friends they regularly invite for this annual show on the eve of SXSW Music. Starting at noon and running past midnight, the free show features more than 40 acts on four stages, starting and ending with sets by Mother Falcon and featuring the likes of Golden Dawn Arkestra, Minor Mishap Marching Band, Ben Ballinger, the Digital Wild and Migrant Kids in between, to name just a few. 2908 Fruth St. motherfalcon.com.

Legends & Legacies at Strange Brew. One overarching story of Austin music in the past couple of decades has been a proliferation of young musicians following in the footsteps of their forbears. That’s reflected in this annual show pairing fathers and sons, siblings, cousins and more in mostly duo formats. Participants includes James McMurtry & Curtis McMurtry, Butch Hancock & Rory Hancock, Jon Dee Graham & William Harries Graham, Savanah Welch & the Orphans with Georgia Bramhall, Bukka Allen & Bale Allen, Jimmie Dale Gilmore & Colin Gilmore, and Warren Hood & Marshall Hood, with special guests including Christiane Swenson. $20. 8 p.m. (Strange Brew also will be open from noon to 5 p.m. for a free musical celebration of the life of SXSW co-founder Louis Meyers, who died friday.) 5326 Manchaca Road. strangebrewloungeside.com.

Also: SXSW Music doesn’t officially begin until tomorrow, but the sideshows are already in full swing. Spotify House, fresh from last night’s surprise appearance by Willie Nelson, continues during the day with sets from Lucius, Miguel, Charles Bradley and more, while Antone’s has a great triple bill at 8 p.m. featuring rising indie-Americana stars Houndmouth plus Rayland Baxter and Harvest Thieves. … The Onion & AV Club’s “Manic Monday” finds Beach Slang, Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, Polica and and more at Barracuda starting at 3 p.m. … Hotel Vegas hosts Strange Brew 5 starting at 2 p.m. at Hotel Vegas and the Volstead Lounge, with highlights including Sweet Spirit, Magna Carda and Lee Bains III & the Glory Fires. … Two more notable evening shows include the Galaxy Life Hip Hop Party at Flamingo Cantina with Dominican Jay, S Dot and more, and the Founders Brewing Company Tap Takeover at Stay Gold with the Accidentals, Dana Falconberry and more. As always, check venue websites and presenters’event pages for details on how to get in.
