MONDAY

Jane Ellen Bryant at Geraldine’s. After drawing attention with her previous release “Hourglass” and touring as a singer in Max Frost’s band, Bryant steps out on “Twenties,” a three-song EP of polished pop-rock original material. The highlight is the title track, a millennial-world-problems anthem of sorts. If her soaring voice seeps into melodrama on the song’s bombastic chorus, she wisely leavens it with a self-deprecating chuckle in the second verse’s confession that “you just moved back in with your parents.” Free. 9 p.m. 605 Davis St. geraldinesaustin.com. — P.B.

Also: A month of Mondays with Nakia & the Blues Grifters continues in the late slot at Antone’s, following Derek O’Brien’s Blue Monday Band early. … The Mohawk presents singer-songwriters Eric Sommer, Halleyanna Finlay and Marina Rocksu on its indoor stage.

TUESDAY

James McMurtry at Continental Gallery. Sometimes it can seem like a slow Tuesday night in Austin clubs. And then you remember that the guy who plays acoustic shows almost every Tuesday night in the Continental Gallery’s intimate upstairs space is one of the most respected songwriters in all of Americana music, someone who draws solid crowds pretty much anywhere he goes when he’s out on tour. Don’t take him for granted. $10. 8 p.m. 1313 S. Congress Ave. continentalclub.com. — P.B.

Also: Lately the Tuesday shows at Antone’s have been free, which is a pretty good deal when the early slot features a trio led by guitar great Denny Freeman and the late show features solid blues talent Josh Fulero. … Local indie group Geranium Drive celebrates the release of a new album at Hotel Vegas. … Catch singer-songwriters Mike Nicolai and Larry Seaman at the north Austin bar Nomad.

WEDNESDAY

Sound & Cinema’s “Labyrinth” quote-along with Sweet Spirit at the Long Center. Yes, it was directed by puppet master Jim Henson, but goblin-king David Bowie might be too creepy for small children. For older kids and grown folks this is a great opportunity to remember the king of gender-bending pop icons who was one of the first painful musical losses of 2016. Pop powerhouse Sweet Spirit will surely go glam and play at least one emotional Bowie cover in their opening set. Free. Music at 7:30. Movie at sundown. 701 W. Riverside Drive. longcenter.org. — D.S.S

Also: Formerly half of the folk-pop duo Civil Wars, John Paul White visits Cactus Cafe with the Secret Sisters. … It’s a good night for classic Austin blues at Antone’s with Lou Ann Barton playing the late show and Bill Carter in the early slot with the Tommy Shannon Blues Band. … Sun Radio’s weekly Texas Radio Live show at Guero’s features Kalu James and Shawn Pander. … Other top local options include Dustin Welch and Bill Kirchen at Saxon Pub, Hilary York at the Townsend and the Marshall Hood Band at ABGB.

THURSDAY

Jenni Finlay Promotions 10th Anniversary at Threadgill’s. Initially working records to radio before branching out into management and production, the daughter of the late Kent Finlay has followed his lead in finding many ways to help artists get their music out into the world. Saying thanks by playing this party are James McMurtry, Adam Carroll, Randy Weeks, Curtis McMurtry, Hollin McKay and more, including a reunion performance by the Dedringers. $12. 7 p.m. 301 W. Riverside Drive. threadgills.com. — P.B.

Also: From early hits in the rock era to the title song of “Grease” to inspiring the Broadway musical “Jersey Boys,” Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons have had quite a career. Catch them at Bass Concert Hall. … Baltimore indie-rockers Wye Oak bring the tour for their latest Merge Records release “Tween” to the Mohawk’s outdoor stage with Tushka. … Acclaimed local Americana duo the Mastersons play one last Austin show at Winflo before they move to Los Angeles. … KGSR’s Unplugged at the Grove series continues with Bob Schneider at Shady Grove. … Wimberley singer-songwriter Kelsey Arianne plays a release show for her new disc “Light Shines Through” at Strange Brew. … Other top local options include Charlie Faye & the Fayettes at the Townsend, Ruby & the Reckless at the Continental Club and Two Hoots & a Holler at the Highball.
