If you’re not going to Weekend Two of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, a handful of festival-aligned shows in the clubs offer one more way to get in on the action. In the meantime, plenty of local venues offer quality alternatives this weekend, along with shows to keep the music playing once the fest is over.

Friday-Sunday: ACL Fest Late Night Shows. Fifteen events at eight different venues find acts playing Zilker Park in the daytime taking to the city streets at night. Friday’s highlights include Nothing But Thieves and the Struts at Emo’s, while Saturday’s options feature LL Cool J with Lizzo at Stubb’s and Brett Dennen at Antone’s. Starting times and ticket prices vary; get the full lowdown at c3concerts.com/latenight. — P.B.

Saturday: Slayer at ACL Live. Zilker Park isn’t rocking hard enough? The thrash metal titans and two-time Fun Fun Fun Fest headliners blast in for their annual autumn pillage of Austin. Anthrax and Death Angel open. $49.50-$69.50. 7 p.m. 310 Willie Nelson Blvd. acl-live.com. — D.S.S.

Saturday: Bill Ball II at Sidewinder. For the second year in a row, indie oddballs Big Bill host a fall homecoming for the misfits of Austin’s underground rock and punk scenes. The lineup includes heavy noise outfit Xetas, comic punks Basketball Shorts and ferocious guitar pop trio Que Pasa. $10. 6 p.m. 715 Red River St. thesidewinderaustin.com. — D.S.S.
