Tuesday: Erika Wennerstrom at ABGB. Known primarily for fronting Heartless Bastards, the indie-rock band that moved from Ohio to Austin a decade ago and got far enough to appear on “Austin City Limits,” Wennerstrom explores a different side of her artistry on “Sweet Unknown,” due in March on Partisan Records. She’s been playing quite a bit locally in the lead-up to the album’s release; a fine chance to catch her is this unusual early-evening Tuesday show at ABGB, where the music is free and the beer and pizza are always dependable draws. 7 p.m. 1305 W. Oltorf St. theabgb.com.

Thursday: Eric Johnson at Paramount Theatre. The native Austinite guitar wizard has been quite active of late, following up 2016’s acoustic-oriented album “EJ” with an intriguing collection of covers and originals called “Collage” last fall. But his current tour is all about “Ah Via Musicom,” the 1990 landmark that was by far the best-selling record of his career. He’ll play that album in full, bringing back its rhythm section of drummer Tommy Taylor and bassist Kyle Brock for the special occasion. $20-$42. 8 p.m. 713 Congress Avenue. austintheatre.org.

St. Paul & the Broken Bones play Thursday at ACL Live. Erika Rich for American-Statesman
