Friday: Terri Hendrix Band with Lloyd Maines at Paramount Theatre. Tuesday was Hendrix’s 50th birthday, and the Central Texas singer-songwriter is celebrating with a big-venue show featuring her longtime pedal steel accompanist Maines (a member of the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame). With more than a dozen albums on her own Wilory Records label across the past two decades, Hendrix has been one of the region’s most prolific musicians, and she’s hardly slowing down with age. Last year she released a full-length album and an EP, and she plans to do the same this year, all part of her “Project 5” series that will conclude with a memoir chronicling her experiences as as musician dealing with the challenges of having epilepsy. She’ll be joined by a handful of her singer-songwriter pals: Al Barlow, Adam & Chris Carroll, Susan Gibson and Michael O’Connor. $20-$35. 8 p.m. 713 Congress Ave. austintheatre.org. — P.B.

Friday: Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives at Antone’s. Austin’s home of the blues doesn’t do a lot of country shows, but they’ve got a great one here. Like compadres such as Rodney Crowell and Dwight Yoakam who rose to prominence during the 1980s, Stuart has continued to make great music as he’s gotten older. Now 59, the guitar and mandolin master who played with bluegrass legend Lester Flatt as a teen has assembled a major-league backing band that lives up to its name, with Kenny Vaughan on guitar, Harry Stinson on drums and Chris Scruggs on bass. They’ll play songs from last year’s acclaimed “Way Out West” and much more at this intimate club show. The Vandoliers open. $25. 305 E. Fifth St. antonesnightclub.com. — P.B.
Friday: Bizarros reunion at Hole in the Wall. Decades ago, when former Velvet Underground guitarist Sterling Morrison taught at the University of Texas, he occasionally popped in across the street at Hole in the Wall to play with the Bizarros, whose lineup also included young journalist Bill Bentley on drums. Bentley eventually moved west and became a renowned and respected publicist for Warner Bros., working with some of the biggest names in the business. He chronicles hundreds of them in the new book “Smithsonian Rock and Roll: Live and Unseen,” essentially an illustrated encyclopedic history of the rock era. Bentley’s longtime pal Alejandro Escovedo, who’s among the acts included in the book, will join him for a 7 p.m. book event at BookPeople, after which the party will move up to Hole in the Wall for a rare Bizarros reunion featuring Moondog Bellamy, Stan Coppinger, Speedy Sparks, John X. Reed and special guests. Also on the bill are Don Leady & the Tail Gators and Uncle Piehole. $5. 9 p.m. 2538 Guadalupe St. holeinthewallaustin.com. — P.B.

Saturday: Money Chicha with Chulita Vinyl Club at C-Boys. Of all the spin-off projects from the mighty Grupo Fantasma, Money Chicha feels like the one most uniquely suited to Austin. Chica, a subgenre of cumbia that originated in Peru in the ’60s, blends classic Latin sounds with the trippy psych rock our city helped pioneer. The Money Chicha guys are about to head out on a Western U.S. jaunt that includes three Chicha Summit performances in California. They are joined on the bill by Chulita Vinyl Club, the all-female DJ crew voted best in Austin in the inaugural Austin360 Awards, so show up ready to move and groove. $10. 9:30 p.m. doors. 2008 S. Congress Ave. cboys.com. — D.S.S.
Sunday: Soul of a Musician series with Kevin Russell at Threadgill’s North. This seasonal North Austin series presented by St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church has had to relocate twice when its host restaurants closed, but they’ve found a great new home in the North Lamar institution with a storied musical legacy. And it’s hard to imagine a better musician to kick things off at the new digs than with a solo show by Russell, leader of the red-hot local band Shinyribs fresh from its “Austin City Limits” TV debut. There’s no cover, but it’s worth arriving before the 6:30 p.m. showtime to get a good table for dinner. 6416 N. Lamar Blvd. facebook.com/soulofamusicianseries. — P.B.
